“His economic model no longer works”: why Bali has become the new paradise for influencers

In recent months, more and more influential people from reality shows leave Dubai for Bali. A movement, often limited by the crisis in the sector and an outbreak of rental prices, which can inform great.

“Why do we choose Bali?” He says, he smiles on his lips, the influencer Hillary Vanderosieren, former candidate of Ch ksIn a Tiktok video shared at the end of last February.

She is now official: the young woman, mother of two children, and her husband Giovanni Bonamy leave her 600 m2 villa in Dubai. Direction of idyllic beaches and yoga in Bali, in the Indonesian archipelago.

Goodbye BLING-KING, Hi Yoga

“We needed to leave Dubai (…) everything was perfect, but why not take risks?” Giovanni asks. “And then, Bali is quite fashionable. We have many friends who are there,” adds the model.

In fact, the social networks couple, followed by more than 2.5 million subscribers accumulated on Instagram, is far from an exception. Vincent Queijo, Marwa Merazka, Rym Renom, Anthony Mateo or Raphaël Pepin: A dozen cameramen have been suitable for leaving Dubai. Indonesian direction.

On Instagram and Tiktok, the Bling-Beling attire, immense shopping centers and Burj Khalifa have given way to nature, spiritual yoga sessions and sandy beaches. Therefore, the Rym Renom influencer, followed by 1.8 million subscribers, changed their night dresses for swimsuits and sports outfits. Vincent Queijo (1.4 million subscribers) multiplies the photos of tunic, in front of the lush nature. “Zero stress, 1,000 palm trees,” he simply wrote on Instagram.

A radical change that questions certain Internet users. “The boxes are simply empty,” says a surfer. “The money, say it. The one -month budget in Dubai is six months in Bali,” added another. “Influencers, it works more mainly,” one creates one finally.

The end of a fiscal paradise

So many comments, quickly refuted by the stars of the small screen. “Many people told us that we were going to Bali because we had no money (…) Hillary has always handled his money very well. We are going to bali because we just want to go,” he defends the couple, in A TikTok video.

However, these sudden movements are not a coincidence or a “simple desire.” In recent years, Glitter has fallen. The law to regulate the influence sector in France signed the end of the splendid period of associations. Collaborations are no longer sold and advertisers comply with downward remuneration.

“Many influential people are no longer in an agency, so they no longer have a fixed salary every month,” said the author of the book in Oueest France Audrey Chippaux, author of the book Behind the filter, investigate the influence system. In a YouTube video, Julia Paredes specifies wins 5,000 euros per month … eight times less than in the great era of influential people.

Worse, the fiscal paradise that Dubai was no longer so cozy for the influential. For Stéphanie Laporte, director of the Social Agency Media Otta, it all started in 2023. “The country has legislated in favor of the end of the tax exemption of certain companies,” observes the expert.

“Your economic model no longer works”

To this is added the cost of living, particularly high in the Emirates. And it is not going well. Since 2022, the country has experienced an increase in real estate, driven by the influx of rich investors. Result, the rentals renounced themselves. They increased by 22%.

In an interview with Jeremstar, Olivia Kugel trusted the difficulties of living in Dubai. “It is shooting on our foot. We are no longer in the French algorithm, we have a gap with France. It never is cold, so you cannot put a coat, people do not identify,” he says, disappointed.

Faced with the multiple crises in the sector, influencers are obliged to reinvent themselves. “They went to Bali to limit broken pots,” says Stéphanie Laporte. “Therefore, it was necessary to find a destination with a good cost/quality of life relationship. The archipelago covered for all criteria.” Because, if Bali is not a fiscal paradise, the cost of living is cheaper. And above all, destiny, very instagrammable, makes many Internet users dream.

His image returns

Therefore, this decoration change allows these camaragraphs from reality shows to reach a new audience and get rid of this blining-bening influential label that adhere to their skin. “In Bali, influencers can bet on a more natural content and a ‘clean’ lifestyle more in tune with the expectations of Internet users,” adds Stéphanie Laporte.

“Months have passed since I was not satisfied with my content. There, I recover a taste, I am very happy,” says Marwa Merazka in its history, between a brunch and a Pilate session in the middle of the palm trees.

A way to restore your image, therefore, and above all, to do business. In total, the hashtag #balilife has no less than one billion opinions, only in Tiktok. For his part, Rym Renom, who has just established himself in Bali, embarked on the animation of spiritual pensions exclusively dedicated to women. The breathing account, dedicated around pensions, combines 19,000 subscribers on Instagram.

It remains to be seen if the exodus will last over time. For its part, Stéphanie Laporte issues some reservations. “It is not a lasting installation. If the wind revolves, they will leave for another more profitable and always idyllic destination,” he concludes.
