“We ask the video to be eliminated”: the sebuuubeur returns to the case of anti-dyslexia glasses

Last February, YouTubeur appeared in a report that promotes Lexilens glasses, a device developed by Abeye and Atol to improve the daily life of dyslexic people. The YouTubeur, who was removed from the video, apologized to his community.

“I could not express myself before (unfortunately, I saw his messages), but I could finally break my contract with the agency because it is a health issue and that did not have fun at all,” says the YouTubeur Seb in a long message in its Instagram history, this May 15. After months of silence, the content creator wanted to talk about intelligent anti-Disploying glasses.

It all starts last February, when the cameraman participates in the fourth season of the “CIC constructs”, a series of videos where the influential ones meet entrepreneurs.

“There I am in Beaune to meet Michael, the founder of Abeye, a startup (incubated by Atol, note of the editor) who developed very special glasses,” he launches in the report, which has since been eliminated. The young man, specialized in the creation of content around the music industry, walks with a determined step towards the camera.

“We ask the video to be removed”

“It is a revolutionary project,” Seb excites when pointing out the system. For several minutes, the entrepreneur then presents to YouTuber his solution called Lexilens, which would allow dyslexic people to “read and understand at the same time.”

“It is a tool for equal opportunities,” says its creator. A user even explains that he obtained his tank thanks to the device. For its part, Atol says that glasses allow dyslexic to read “two or three times faster,”

The video has been seen more than 4 million times in a month. The problem is that it is far from being unanimous. In fact, several Internet users are concerned about the lack of proof of system effectiveness, however, presented as revolutionaries. Others call the video “scam” and “lie”.

“As soon as the report is published, some of you have warned me about the questionable aspect of the product,” confirms Seb, who can now be expressed in the case, in its history. “We demand answers to this agency. We ask the video to be eliminated if we did not,” he adds.

The company that created these glasses sends several publications of the “reading committee” by email “, scientific things that I cannot understand”, admits the YouTubeur.

Lack of scientific evidence

According to G Milgram, the scientific study on which the glasses are based on the scientific community, as evidenced by this note published in the magazine Royal Society Minutes. Scientists denounce a problem of methodology and conclusions that are too definitive, when these are simply hypothesis.

In addition to this report, Atol is based solely on testimonies and satisfaction questionnaires, which do not constitute “scientific evidence.” An independent study has proven the effectiveness of Lexilens glasses. The observation is clear: to use “without effect” glasses in reading.

And, as a survey by L’E extmarks, the Scientific Council for National Education even wrote a note that did not recommend “the dissemination of these systems within national education.” To end criticism, Atol launched a clinical trial in 2020. However, the study ended in June, no results were communicated.

Immediately, SEB warns the agency that “the report eliminates a few hours later.” “With respect to myself, I’m sorry I had my image associated with this report. I suppose my part and the lack of firmness I had, but I refuse to serve as a seal for the elections that I have never taken,” he concludes, while specifying not having “not worrying” with the CIC.
