In social networks, it’s called Emma, he is 11 years old and is a schoolgirl in the Lyon region. Actually, his name is Naomi and is 33 years old. Volunteer in the association “Les Enfants d’Agus”, is a “virtual girl” on the Internet. It is the method used by this association that has been established in the mission of eliminating pedocriminals in social networks and making them condemn them.
It has a network of 40 volunteers who intend to be children on these platforms. In detail, they create profiles for children between 10 and 12 years, with profile photos generated by artificial intelligence.
“What we do is legal”
These volunteers have rules to follow. To start, they should not be in the contact initiative. They must also remember their fictitious age to the people with whom they exchange to form the crime.
“I explain that I am 11 years old,” Naomi said in BFMTV, citing an example of a conversation with a pedocriminal a year ago. He replied that he is 36 years old and lives in the south. Then he quickly received sexual proposals.
“The boys like them a lot, kisses and hidden below,” he wrote, before sharing a photo of him in the underpants, then another without underwear. Worse, the man in question has confessed to having carried out an act that could be similar to sexual aggression to a minor.
However, it is impossible to know if its story is true or not. Identified, the man was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the corruption of a minor after the complaint of the association “Les Enfants d’Agus”. Association that is not considered the search for pedophiles.
“We do not want people who are ready to hit someone because he assumes that he would have bad thoughts for children. What we do is legal,” said its founder and president, Cédric Teynat.
A method that does not consensus
While the association presents fifteen complaints per month, “we have never had any rejection or relaxation based on the fact that he was a virtual child and a volunteer behind the screen,” said Juliette Chapelle, his lawyer.
Despite this, the method used by the non -consensus association in researchers or magistrates. “The objective shown by these associations, the fight against sexual violence in minors, is also a priority for the Ministry of Justice. However, the intervention of third parties even armed with the best intentions is not without risk,” said the Ministry of Justice with BFMTV.
This, for several reasons. Not only is it possible that a survey is already underway in an individual in the view of these associations, their members can also “endanger trying to arrest an individual on their own.”
To this is added the fact that researchers are already doing “digital patrols.” In other words, the pseudonym investigations, for which they obtained the authorization of a magistrate and allow them to “collect evidence by contacting a pedocriminal to identify and challenge it.”
