Microsoft will deepen their cooperation with European governments in terms of cybersecurity by providing the authorities with more information obtained thanks to their artificial intelligence tools (AI), the company announced on June 4.
This “European Security Program” (European Security Program) launched by the Technological Giant aims to “use the power of artificial intelligence to strengthen resilience in cybersecurity,” said Microsoft President Brad Smith at an online press conference.
“We are in a position today to share more information about threats and better quality, with governments and do it faster than before,” he said. The development of AI has also “multiplied and changes the behavior of the authors of threats,” he explained in a blog post.
Muscle his presence in Europe
Brad Smith has also announced additional resources for cybersecurity in the European Union, in terms of labor force and infrastructure, but without giving specific figures. Microsoft also intends to intensify its collaboration with the European Police to identify and interrupt online criminal behavior.
With this in mind, the company had made public in mid -May an operation of magnitude carried out with the Europol agency and with the participation of the United States government to neutralize the infrastructure that has allowed the spread of a Russian virus called “Lumma Stealer.” Therefore, Microsoft has managed to block, suspend or erase around 2,300 Internet addresses that formed the lumma framework.
These efforts are also part of the will of the Silicon Valley giant to build all its operations in Europe, at a time when the old continent is under an unprecedented confrontation with the United States and when the strategic dependence of European companies in US technology is particularly questioned.
