Private of iOS 26, the iphone xs 2018 becomes “vintage” for Apple: what will happen to its users?

Released in 2018, the iPhone XS will no longer take advantage of the next iOS 26 launched next September. Apple also classified it as “old” (harvest), which makes it less repairable than before, but not unusable.

With the next arrival of iOS 26, Apple has reduced the iPhone list that will be compatible. From now on, if you do not have an iPhone 11, you will not be able to take advantage of the new functions, much less than the main reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro and the followers.

This does not mean that the iPhone before iPhone 11 will no longer work. They will enjoy a moment of security updates linked to iOS 18. However, some of them will change their status with Apple.

If you have an iPhone XS or XS Max, the first to stand out from future compatible devices, now they are entering the “old” products category. A change in the state that leads to some changes for the user.

Less possible official repairs

A device that has become “old” is, therefore, a product that Apple has not distributed for at least five years and less than seven years. Because then it will go through the “obsolete” category. However, this change of state is important for legal guarantees and spare parts.

Therefore, approved reparators and Apple Store can still repair their iPhone XS/XS Max for two years, but this will be done with the spare parts available. Suffice it to say that for an iPhone launched in 2018 with a design that has since evolved greatly, everything cannot be repairable.

Once it has become “obsolete”, there will be no more possibilities to repair the official Apple circuit for this smartphone.

However, it is possible to obtain the iPhone X that remains fully functional, either in reconditioned or of partner resellers. But in two years, it will depend on you to find a reparator.

Keep in mind that the 21.5 -inch IMAC dates from early 2013 is still repairable. In the “old” category, we also find the iPhone 4 (8 GB), however, launched in 2010, or the iPhone 5 in 2012, while some iPhone 4, 4S, 5C and the followers are already obsolete.
