When you don’t have the stars or the budget of a true fashion parade, you have to improvise. This is what about thirty students of the MJM Graphics and Design School school imagined, located in Paris in the tenth district. To present their creations, they used artificial intelligence.
If the clothes are based on the students’ sketches, the parade, the models, the podium or the lights have been generated by AI with the help of an artist specialized in this area, Stéphanie Arki.
These hundreds of sketches and warning
“We really start with our fast sketches we do by hand,” says Louiza, student, with BFM Business. “Then we are going to make a small selection that we will reproduce in a mannequin.”
Each collection requires many hours of work: between 200 and 800 sketches are needed, handmade, to find the outfits that the false models will then dress.
The selected sketch is transformed into Midjourney, before being entrusted to the IA artists, who will correct any defect during the generation or improve the final representation. The notice, this sentence to use to generate something with AI, is very important to reach the expected result: “We have to guide the AI to notify the haircut, makeup, if it is wide textures, etc.”
AI also allows students to better prepare to create the attire of tomorrow, since the data is analyzed to understand the trends.
For Jacques Huyghues Despoles, school director of the school, it is a saving of time and money: “We will teach them to make more proposals, which are more complete, which take into account the needs of a fashion company.”
Fashion has taken the issue of artificial intelligence very seriously. The market could reach almost 16 billion euros by 2031.
