Bouygues Telecom launches the “Children’s Clock”, a connected watch without Internet for children

To delay access to smartphones for children, the Bouygues Telecom operator is launching a blocked package that includes a connected watch for the youngest.

With the programmed prohibition of phones in universities, after entering primary schools, the next device that children can use well can be the connected clock.

It is in this context that Bouygues Telecom announced the launch of The Kids Watch, which is presented as a watch without Internet access, but still allows it to be connected through a dedicated package.

A SOS button and contacts managed by parents

The operator intends to “postpone” children’s access to smartphones, however, offers an alternative to parents who want to know their offspring. The children’s watch allows the issuance of calls and safe messages from a contact list previously defined by the parents through an application on their smartphone.

In addition, it has a “school” mode that allows you to eliminate the call tone and disable access to messages. Geolocation is also there, as well as a “security zone” that alerts parents in case of perimeter exits.

The operator also had the good idea of adding a “SOS button” so that it can be notified in case of an urgent problem.

A clock to stay away from the smartphone

To operate everything, the children’s clock is based on an ESIM (integrated into the device), associated with a blocked blocked package that is offered from 4.99 euros/month for customers of cash operators+, or 9.99 euros/month for others. However, keep in mind that a rental of 4 euros/month of the clock must be added to this package for 24 months (1 euro from the beginning).

Bouygues Telecom insists that none outside package is possible with this solution.

The operator responds to an increasingly important demand from public authorities on the issue of screens among the youngest. Therefore, the children’s watch aims to be a solution for the child to be gaining autonomy, without associating it with a smartphone.

In France, 71% of 11 -year -old children have a smartphone, which could expose them to inappropriate content.
