It is a reproduction of the many manifestations that have been broken throughout the country, after Donald Trump’s very repressive policy against immigrants.
Some videos show dams in the game where protesters and police are grouping. We see in particular the Blandish signs players “we hate the ice” or the Mexican flags. In front of them, other players embody the Swat and the arrests.
An alternative for children
Difficult to lose Roblox, a free and massive multiplayer game that brings together more than 80 million users daily. The game with a very simplistic design is particularly appreciated by children (40% of the players are under 13 years old). Therefore, seeing reproductions of demonstrations in such a childish universe seems surprising.
According to the journalist Taylor Lorenz of the User MAG, it all started with raids from players playing ice agents in Roblox. The latter reached the houses of other users to make arrests such as ice in real life.
Then, when manifestations exploded in real life, they also began to spread in the game. For the journalist, a 17 -year -old teenager behind one of the demonstrations about Roblox explains that he wanted to demonstrate, but was prohibited.
A real world mirror
These events take place in Brookhaven, the most famous game mode in Roblox (with more than 65 billion visits in total). This is a mode dedicated to the role game, players can lead a parallel life. Thanks to its massive and very active community, this digital patio has gradually become the mirror of real life.
In fact, it is not the first time that we have witnessed reconstructions of real events in Roblox. We had already seen the players recreation of mass murders in the game. Buffalo, Uvalde, Parkland or the shooting of the Lycée de Colombina, players can embody a murderer and live the massacre from their point of view.
