Tiktok: the prohibition of the social network and its sale officially postponed

Donald Trump again postponed the deadline that opened the way for a forced sale of the American Tiktok division.

Donald Trump announced Thursday that he has signed a decree that repels 90 days of the deadline for the sale of Tiktok, imposed by the American Congress that wants the Chinese parent company byteye to resign from this social network, very popular in the United States.

Although the US president had already postponed the deadline twice, the new deadline is set in the decree on September 17, he announced on his social social platform, while Washington awaits Beijing’s green light for this sale.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt already said Tuesday that Donald Trump would sign this new decree because “he does not want to see Tiktok disappear.”

China still does not agree for a sale

According to a law voted in Congress in 2024, the social network remains a prohibition in the United States if its parent company does not abandon control.

According to several American media, a protocol was found in early April. It provided the separation of the United States Tiktok from the Bytedance group, with a capital recomposition.

The shares held by non -Chinese investors went from 60 to 80%, with the byte maintaining the 20% it currently has.

The Oracle Ti group, which already houses the Tiktok US data about its US servants, should be in the maneuver, accompanied, in particular, by the active manager of Blackstone or businessman Michael Dell.

But the announcement of customs duties imposed by Donald Trump to its commercial partners, with a particularly salty note for China, with 54% (then raised to 145%), blocked the Chinese lateral transaction.

“We will probably need China’s agreement” in mid -September, a new deadline, Donald Trump admitted Tuesday. “I think President XI will eventually give him green light,” he added.
