“Hello, you are at home.” If you have received such SMS in recent days, it is not the only one. This is a new scam, which seems to have emerged on June 30 according to the many French testimonies in X and the platform of the Signal Scams community.
More specifically, this is a new form of the package in the package, with a number that begins with a 07 in most cases. After a first response from the victim, the Crook pretends to be a delivery man, which indicates that he contacted him for a package that does not fit the mailbox, as shown in shared screenshots in X.
Then he proposed two options to the victim: pass or leave his package at a retransmission point. But regardless of the response of the latter, the offender sends an SMS to choose a new delivery slot or retransmission point, inviting him to click on a link.
Obtain personal information from victims
The link in question suggests to the victim that it will be redirected to the world relay site, but this is not the case. It is actually an imitation. And this is not the first time that criminals have used this method.
In April, several French had indicated having received an SMS for a package that does not enter the mailbox with a similar link. By trusting the latter, they found themselves in a copy of the world relay site inviting them to enter their personal and bank information. Therefore, they transmit this information to criminals, who can use it for fraudulent purposes (purchases …).
This new package wave in the package occurs when this type of scam is becoming increasingly realistic. Because criminals can use the name and name of the victim in some cases to cheat it better.
However, it is not possible to fall into the trap, several signs that reveal that it is a scam. Starting with the Fallas of Orthograhe, as the present in the first SMS sent by the Crook in the case of the new scam. You can also look at the sending number because services such as Mondial Relay or the post do not send messages from 06, 07 or 09.
Finally, in case of doubt, you can communicate directly with the transport company by the package, as advised by Cybermalvence.gouv.fr. This will confirm or deny the message.
