“Ten Times Faster”: For the first time, Netflix produced a series thanks to the AI

The transmission giant has used videos generation tools in one of its series. A “more efficient” and “cheaper” alternative, very popular among Netflix co -director.

“The first final sequence generated by AI to appear on the screen of a series or an original Netflix movie.” Ted Saraonds, Netflix co -director, revealed that the Argentine series The Jan in AI used to create certain plans that require special effects. A first for the platform, which does not exclude the use of videos generation for other content.

“Faster”, “cheaper”

Ted Saraonds does not make a reservation regarding the pioneering use of AI on the platform. On the contrary, it does not hide its fashion that qualifies the possibilities offered by the “infinitely promising” tool. He added that the creators and spectators were “delighted” with the results offered by this generative AI.

You see in AI a means to gain drastically in efficiency. Then states that the special effects generated in The Jan in They were made in “ten times faster than they could have been with traditional VFX tools.”

At the same time, he points out that “the investment (in special effects made traditionally) would not have been attainable with such a budget.” Ted Sarandos sees the opportunity for small productions to have their own special effects, without having to invest in colossal sums.

Cinema threatened by AI

This enthusiasm for AI could greatly affect the medium of special effects. With the appearance of generative, film professions are more than ever in the hot seat. At the end of 2023, Hollywood writers and actors were on strike. One of the voltage points was the use of AI as an alternative to human work.

More recently, it was the French dubbing actors who began a strike. The latter fears being replaced very soon by voices generated by the increasingly convincing.

Other transmission platforms have already been controversial for the use of AI in their series. This was the case of Disney+ in 2024. The site had mentioned the use of chatgpt in the Indian series Save the tigers For writing the words of one of the songs.
