Géraldine Jinks, a therapy specialized in social assistance, has been working for the Municipal Council of Peterborough (United Kingdom) for 35 years. Regularly, his colleagues ask him for advice, whether to help residents in hospitals or for more classic questions about procedures. But the employee no longer knows where to turn.
So much so that he is less and less present in his office. And, when she is on license, her team is late. Given this pressure, its manager had an idea: transform the therapist into artificial intelligence (AI). As reported by the BBC, the Municipal Council has associated with the Datnexa company to create a chatbot inspired by therapy. This new Géraldine 2.0, available 24 hours a day, was called “Hey Géraldine”.
More than 1,200 applications
The tool was fed thanks to the knowledge of Géraldine Jinks, who worked with the developer team. “It was very exciting to develop this chatbot,” he said, in a press release.
Hey Géraldine is, therefore, capable of answering the usual questions of employees in a benevolent way, such as therapy. For example, if an employee explains “working with a resident who forgets to turn off his oven” and needs help to help him, AI offers a variety of possible solutions, as well as links to resources.
During the first six weeks, the chatbot processed more than 1,200 applications, the equivalent of 300 hours of work for the Géraldine team. Given this success, the Peterborough Municipal Council plans to develop a new version of Chatbot, this time destined for the inhabitants of the city.
