Lower curtain for an Apple store. According to Bloomberg, Cupertino’s firm is preparing to close his store in the city of Dalian, in the Northeast of China. On August 9, 2025, the brand located in the Parkland shopping center will have to put the key under the door.
This is the first boutique that Apple Farm in China. A fun initiative while the American brand seeks to extend its empire abroad. Apple has some difficulties in winning in Chinese territory, since its sales remain behind their local counterparts, Huawai, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
The reasons for closing
Why close a store in Dalian? Actually, the brand has 56 stores throughout the Chinese territory. But one of them is about ten minutes from where the store is closed (at the Olympia 66 shopping center).
According to the Global Times, this decision is also motivated by a hard financial crisis that affects the owner of the Parkland Shopping Center. Before Apple, dozens of clothing and perfume brands such as Hugo Boss, Kenzo or Coach did not want to keep their brand in the complex after the expiration of their lease.
Other closures
Dalian’s case is not isolated, the American giant proceeds to a complete reorganization of Apple’s store in the world. Like the Chinese store, a store in Bristol in the United Kingdom could close on August 9. Other establishments should suffer the same destination as a store in Michigan and others in Sydney.
But Apple does not intend to lose territory, however, in parallel with its closures, a large number of openings are planned. Shenzhen (in China) is expected to accommodate a new store for August 16 of this year. Even so, according to Bloomberg, other brands must open their doors in China, Beijing and Shanghai.
The United States, India, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia should also open respectively a new store very soon. For its part, France has 20 Apple stores of the 530 present in the world.
The Cupertino brand, therefore, hopes to keep its place as a world leader in the smartphone market. According to the Statcounter site, it sells 25.5% of mobile phones worldwide, but it has been a slight decrease since May (where it was 26.9%).
