YouTube check its rules. Since January 2023, the transmission platform that belongs to Google has ended the insulting words and great words in the videos. The creators had had to censure, under the penalty of not being eligible for monetization.
However, the water has sunk under the bridges: YouTube announces that it has reviewed its policy regarding rudeness and monetization. From now on, these are authorized, but under conditions.
The creators will not have to pronounce it before at least 7 seconds of video. In addition, insults should not constitute “the majority” of the content.
It is not necessary for Pit to some big words
“The occasional use of thick language does not necessarily mean that the video is not adapted to the ads,” writes the platform on its support page.
Among the words now not censored and that “can generate advertising income”, we find “brothel” or “boring” that can appear in the miniature or title. The words “whore”, “imbécil”, “gilipollas” and “shit” should only be used in the video, and not elsewhere, as in the title, description or miniature.
YouTube, on the other hand, stipulates that the terms “incite hate” such as “Pédé” or “Black”, are used in the video, in miniature or in the title, they will not be able to generate income. These contents are also exposed to moderation due to their “hateful and degrading” character.
Some content can still be limited
This change in the margins of the rules, as planned, has been welcome favorably by the creators, who until now were forced to “pita” potentially insulting words, or prohibit them from their vocabulary, when this can be part of their personality on the web.
For YouTube, it is also a matter of making the content eligible that it can include insulting words, such as musical clips or humorous sketches.
However, keep in mind that this does not systematically mean that advertisers will be there. In some cases, and for several subjects who deal, in particular, rape or sexual harassment, a video can be “limited” in its monetization. Advertisers who are still the YouTube teachers can also decide not to be affiliated with potentially controversial words, as is the case in X.
These new rules are added to those that are put online in June 2025 and that now allow videos that transmit false information and insult towards minorities. Since Donald Trump’s return to the White House, technology companies have continued to abandon their inclusion policies.
