Rome was not done in a day and a search engine either. In its latest public made report, Statcounter presents the good health of Bing, the search engine launched by Microsoft in 2005 under the name MSN Search.
In the two -year space, Bing has seen its global market share by 3.4 points, to 11.6%. The score is even more noticeable in the United States, where the search engine installed by default on the edge browser and within Windows reaches 29% of the market share.
The Google leader played around the world …
The one that undergoes this increase is none other than Google, who sees its market share returning 6.1 points worldwide during the same period. The fall is less significant in the United States (-1.2 points).
According to Statcounter, this significant increase in the use of Bing is due to artificial intelligence. Since 2023, Microsoft has integrated Copilot (previously called Bing Chat), which is based on Operai Technologies, the Chatgpt Creator. Therefore, users prefer to ask their question directly to a search engine without going through conventional keywords.
This is a trend that is confirmed when you notice that Google suffers less in the United States, a country in which the company has already broadcast its AI tools with Gemini, either to summarize the investigation or identify clothes and recognize images.
… but criticized for their weaknesses
In other parts of the world, Google retains its first place, but it is still criticized for less and less relevant results, and takes into account the sites of “click trap” or translated by AI as multilinguals. An element in which the search engine works actively.
In its latest financial report, Microsoft generated 13% more advertising income between 2023 and 2024, rising to 1.6 billion.
Often mocked, Bing has been able to do a place and gradually grabbed some places in front of Google’s hegemony in the investigation. However, the disparity between the territories remains. In France, where Bing results are less efficient, Google continues to have a very comfortable breakthrough: 89.95% market share against 5.12% for Bing.
