$ 40 million in a month. This is the amount that the number one Mrbeast Youtuber with the help of Mark Rober, cameraman and former NASA engineer.
Called “Team Water”, this new charity campaign, in association with the Wateraid association, aims to provide drinking water to 2 million people worldwide. “Every given dollar will allow a person to have access to drinking water for a year,” says the influencer in the presentation of the project project.
Therefore, the charitable campaign hopes to finance solar wells and water evacuation systems in Colombia’s deserts or in Bangladesh forests.
“Use the platform to do good”
In total, the initiative mobilizes more than 3,000 camaragraphs and public figures in 84 countries, for a total of more than 3 billion subscribers. “It could be the largest philanthropic project in history,” Mrbecast exclaims in his video. The creator of the Kai Cenat content or the Cook Gordon Ramsay are, therefore, part of the project.
“We have noticed the power of the Internet when mobilized by a cause, either to plant millions of trees or eliminate millions of kilos of oceanic waste,” the duo said in a press release. “Today, we are attacking drinking water, because no one should be deprived of it.”
Because the two cameramen are far from being in their first attempt. Mrbeast and Mark Rober have already collaborated twice to organize great charitable actions. Therefore, the “team trees” and “Team Seas” raised 20 and 30 million dollars respectively. 20 million trees have been planted and more than 13.6 million kilos of ocean, beaches and rivers were eliminated.
Mr. Mrbeast let him know thanks to his strange challenges and disproportionate charity projects. In February 2023, he had financed the operation of a thousand people with blindness. Last July, he also built 100 houses for needy families.
A particularly viral concept that attracts admiration as much as criticism. In fact, some accuse him of making “porn of charity”, that is, to film his good actions to obtain a maximum of points of view in his chain and, therefore, of money. For its part, Mrbeast says he does not launch this campaign to win subscribers. “I am the world’s greatest YouTubeur. Most people already know me,” he smiles.
