A small prayer that makes a great splash. In an interview with the Dagns Industri newspaper on August 3, Ulf Krissels, Swedish Prime Minister, said he did not hesitate to use artificial intelligence in the context of his functions.
The prime minister admits to use different assistants, including Chatgpt and the cat. It would not be the only one. According to the leader, the political experts and advisors that surround it also use this technology in their work. “But we need linguistic models that are more inspired by Swedish experiences. This is something strange,” he adds.
“A slippery slope”
Quickly, these comments aroused indignation in part of public opinion, especially in the local press, observes the Guardian. In his editorial, the Actonbladet newspaper accused Ulf Krisson of “falling into the psychosis of the artificial intelligence of the oligarchs.” This is also the case of Simone Fischer-Hübner, computer researcher at the University of Karlstad. “You must be very careful,” he said, warning against the reckless use of AI to process confidential information, as well as in politics.
For its part, Virginia Dignum, professor of artificial intelligence responsible for the University of Umeå, recalls that AI cannot give a relevant opinion about political ideas. It only reflects the views of those who built it.
For his part, the Swedish prime minister spokesman wants to be reassuring. “Of course, this is not confidential security information that ends there (in the tools of AI, note of the editor). They are used a lot as an estimate,” he said.
