In China, the first shopping center dedicated to the sale of humanoid robots opens its doors

In Beijing, a shopping center has just opened its doors and you put on sale, both companies and people, robots capable of carrying out all kinds of tasks.

A complex pioneer in the world. According to AP News images, on August 8 he opened the “Robot Mall” in China, a shopping center specialized in robots trade, particularly humanoids (taking human appearance). There are other models such as robot dogs or robotic arms.

By becoming the first country to inaugurate such space, China wants to market more machines for people, a market reserved so far for research and a small part of the industry.

Purchasing, rental and after -sales service

Pharmaceutical, butler, server, musician, cashier or footballer. The different demonstration robots in this high -tech store have regular work. According to AFP, the complex located in Beijing not only offers to buy these machines, but also has after -sales service and allows the purchase of spare parts. I should also offer rental robots for rent.

To obtain one of these machines, it will be necessary, according to the model, to pay among a few hundred (the cheapest model in the store costs 238 euros) and several hundred thousand euros.

Although they let the dream work to have their own servant at home, these humanoids are not yet autonomous enough to perform a wide variety of domestic tasks.

Most of them, for the most part, still cannot move alone in a habitat they don’t know. Currently, your interest is quite reserved for research, industry (for repetitive tasks) or for anyone who wants to address such machines.

Robots for individuals

The sale of robot to people is not new in China. The Chinese company SUFI was already a pioneer in the commercialization of humanoid robots for individuals.

He put its online H1 model in 86,000 euros and its G1 model to 13,000 euros in February 2025. Since July 2025, the same company has been offering R1, an “intelligent pet” Android, for just over 5,000 euros.

China is largely based on robotics, both for its economic and demographic reasons. Its population is aging and the machines can provide real relief for home aid.

Robots as a soft energy tool

In the domain of robotics, China may be upset about having a train in advance. She wants to stand out from the United States, also at the forefront of the sector. The country concentrates many of its resources in this type of innovation to the point of turning it into a soft energy tool. Since the beginning of August, the country has multiplied events around robotics to show its progress in the sector.

Last week the World Conference of AI in Shanghai was held. Several Chinese robots manufacturers went there to demonstrate their machines. The World Robotics Conference also opened this August 8, 2025 in Beijing. An event that brings together several specialized companies in the field until August 12.

Finally, Beijing will welcome this August 15, 2025 the First World Humanoid Robot Games (World Humanoid Robots Games), a great sports competition where participants are not athletes, but, as the name implies, autonomous robots.

According to AFP, almost 280 teams from 16 countries (including Italy, Germany, Portugal, United States, but not France) will compete in various disciplines, but it is the football matches that are particularly expected.
