HTC presents connected glasses that do not collect your data (unlike target)

By revealing his first connected glasses, HTC hopes to return to the race against the insolent success of the goal Ray-Ban.

This is a challenger who had not necessarily seen coming. In front of Meta’s Ray-Ban, several important competitors are expected in the turn. This is particularly Apple’s case, cited by insistent rumors.

But ultimately, it is HTC, through its subsidiary dedicated to products that use virtual reality, Lively, which has positioned itself with Vive Eagle. Therefore, behind this old great name of Android smartphones, hide the connected glasses, with a camera on each side of the product, which allows to capture moments of life.

Transparent frame

The 12 megapixel sensor is accompanied by branches with small speakers that circulate the sound through the bone, which guarantees a certain intimacy. HTC also equipped its glasses with an AI assistant and a battery that promised up to 36 hours of autonomy. On the weight side, count 49 grams once in the nose.

The design is more professional than Meta Ray-Ban. The latter in fact adopts an occasional style that does not necessarily adapt to an urban or business environment, even if they are real glasses that, therefore, can adapt to their vision. The Vive Eagle opts for a transparent frame, we see the circuits and components through tinting plastic.

We like, or not, the style chosen by HTC, but their glasses have the merit of not simply copying the competition.

Connected glasses of privacy

HTC also highlights the protection of user data. Unlike goal that takes the opportunity to divert the operators of their Ray-BAN, Vive Eagle maintains all data locally. If we call the AI assistant (for example, to request information or establish an appointment), the data is anonymized when they pass through the company’s servers.

Since the end of its smartphone activities after a resale in Google for its pixel, HTC has been trying to recover growth, especially in the field of virtual reality, artificial intelligence and cryptography. The Taiwanese company has been associated with animoca for this purpose.

A strategy that has not been successful: HTC has not published profits for five years.
