This is one of the elements to which we pay more attention before buying a smartphone: autonomy. Manufacturers are aware of this and seek to improve the duration of their devices, especially with new functions. This is the case of Apple, which will market its iPhone 17 and air from Friday, September 19.
If some of their future owners do not know, a novelty will be enabled by default in these new smartphones. His name: “adaptive power”, that is, “adaptive food” in French. “Extends the battery life of its iPhone when you use it more,” Apple said on a dedicated support page.
Therefore, the function may optimize performance, reduce the 3% screen or activate the energy saving mode once the battery falls to 20%. “Apple specifies that it will not manage performance when users use functions that require maximum power, such as camera or games with the activated game mode.
A function to activate on an iPhone
This new function is not reserved for new Apple smartphones. It is already available on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, as well as on iPhone 16 (other devices that have Apple intelligence) thanks to iOS 26, the last update of the company’s mobile operating system, available since September 15. However, it is not activated by default. Therefore, it will depend on the user to do so by going to the configuration and pressing “drums.” From there, it will be enough to select the “food mode” and activate “adaptive power.”
With this function, users also have the possibility of receiving notifications to know when it is activated during the day. This parameter will also be activated by default on the iPhone 17, but not in other Apple smartphones. For the latter, it will be necessary to activate it from the same page where it is “adaptive power” in the configuration.
