“People have spoken, amnesty starts next week,” Elon Musk, the new owner of the social network, tweeted Thursday night. He will allow previously suspended accounts to be reinstated on the platform “as long as they haven’t broken the law or committed blatant spam.”
This choice is guided by the result of a poll on his Twitter account. 72% of the more than 3 million voters were in favor.
A few days ago, long-banned Twitter users like Donald Trump were able to get their accounts back. However, Elon Musk had to submit these returns to a moderation board, which does not yet exist.
Furthermore, Elon Musk’s use of surveys to define certain addresses for Twitter goes against a commitment expressed shortly after the company’s acquisition.
