The ploy is worthy of a film Bond James. As the BBC reports, in Mi6, all means are good to attract new recruits. The British external intelligence service has launched a new online portal on the Dark website.
The objective? Promote possible spies and other informants, and in particular in Russia, to send them secrets and secret information … and then recruit them. The platform, Baptized Silent Couier, is based on the decentralized Tor protocol, which allows anonymous access to the Mi6 Segura mail platform.
“Facilitate the recruitment of the agency”
“While the world is changing and the threats we face are multiplying, we must ensure that the United Kingdom is still one step ahead of our opponents,” said Yvette Cooper, British Minister of Foreign Affairs. “Silent Couer’s safe messaging platform aims to strengthen national security by facilitating the recruitment of the intelligence agency.”
The announcement of this online messaging platform is also accompanied by a brief YouTube video, worthy of a James Bond. “For 100 years, the bases of the MI6 were face -to -face meetings,” said an off voice, while spies images in a forest in the snow or board of a SUV in the desert of the desert. “Now we can assure these online connections using our new portal on the dark website.”
People who wish to communicate with the United Kingdom safely with confidential information related to terrorism or espionage can access the portal since Friday, September 19.
To access the platform, buds are invited to take great precautions. The MI6 recommends using a VPN, a trusted device and creating a new dedicated email address. “Do not use a name, telephone number or other data related to your true identity when creating this account,” added the British Intelligence Service.
And the MI6 is far from an exception. In 2023, the CIA launched a similar strategy. The American Intelligence Agency had published a series of videos on social networks to attack and recruit any Russian spy.
