Climate: Al Gore launches an interactive card in AI to locate 660 million contaminators

An interactive map launched by Climate Trace allows more than 2,500 cities worldwide to access the unprocessed data from the main pollutants and visualizations of the nearby pollution columns.

Use AI to track contaminating. This is the goal of Climate Trace, the non -profit organization co -founded by former American vice president Al Gore. On Wednesday, September 24, the figure of the fight against global warming launched a tool that uses AI to follow pollution with fine particles, AP News reports.

“For some time, I have been trying to attract attention to the global public health crisis linked to what some call conventional air pollution, or PM2.5,” he told TechCrunch’s gore. “It is difficult for people to obtain precise information about the pollution they breathe, their origin and their amounts.”

It all started after an experience in Memphis, in Tennessee. When trying to avoid the construction of a pipeline, the activist discovered that the columns of a neighboring refinery were dried in the neighborhoods. Then he asked Climate Trace to extend his system to locate methanes sources to follow these pollutants worldwide.

More than 2,500 interested cities

Now it is made. With the help of 300 satellites, 30,000 earth monitoring sensors and artificial intelligence, the tool can follow more than 660 million sources of pollution, including almost 4,000 “super fetites.” This interactive map allows access to unprocessed data from the main pollution and visualizations of pollution columns near the main cities. A little as applications to monitor storms, therefore. In total, more than 2,500 cities worldwide can use this software.

Climate Trace could see that the city of Karachi, Pakistan, had most people exposed to fine particles. Guangzhou (China), Seoul (South Korea) and New York (United States) are also one of the most exposed cities.

At the moment, users can only observe long -term trends. In approximately a year, Al Gore expects these data to be available daily to integrate into weather applications, such as allergies.

Fine particles contamination kills an average of 10 million people each year. According to the cancer environment, several studies have demonstrated an association between a higher risk of lung cancer and chronic exposure to air particles.
