“A historical moment.” When the streamer Kaatsup goes up to the second podium of the third edition of the GP Explorer, the Formula 4 race organized by Squeezie, the public goes crazy.
The applause of the 80,000 spectators present at the Bugatti stadium quickly exploded. “The first woman to climb to a podium in the history of the GP Explorer,” the journalist Cécile Grès, commentator of the event, gets excited. After two failed participations, the content creator could finally take revenge.
Strength to all the women who participated in the GP “
In social networks, Internet users also seem to share this enthusiasm. “The only thing that matters is a woman on the podium. Thank you Kaatsup, you are the best,” a user wrote. “Top 1 in our hearts,” adds another.
And it didn’t miss. On Instagram and the entire principle of a car race … “You ruined Squeezie’s race, you are a bitch,” says one of them. “Thank you for ruining Squeezie’s last doctor. I wish you would have finished on a wall,” another wrote. “I’m sorry but if you don’t close the door to Squeezie, it ends last,” replies a user.
The content creator also faced several misogynist comments. “Luckily there was no place to do,” jokes a user. “It is not a very physical sport, so it is normal,” says another. “He paid others to let her win,” accuses one last.
For its part, Kaatsup prefers to ignore these aggressive and derogatory comments. “Where is hate? I receive so many positive messages that I don’t even see hate. (…) I don’t see hatred,” he says in a story in Snapchat. The cameraman even extracts a life lesson from it.
Repeated cyberbullying waves
However, Kaatsup is not the first victim of cyberbullying after the GP Explorer. Last May, announcing its participation in the race, the influencer Lea Elui was also the victim of a wave of misogyny. Some Internet users criticized him for not belonging to the automobile world or the French Internet sector … criticism that did not add up to the PLK or SCH rappers, also participants in the race.
“It’s a car race, not a parade,” a user complained. “Go back to the kitchen.” “This year I feel that there will be more than one accident,” added another, in reference to the accident during the GP Explorer 2 between the Creator of Content Manon Lanza and the YouTuber Maxime Biaggi in a curve that is too closed.
The cameraman had to be hospitalized. Despite this, many Internet users attacked the influencer, holding it responsible for the accident, something common in motor sports. He had been the victim of a massive raid, dyed of sexist comments, lamenting in particular the fact that several women had participated in the contest.
Squeezie, organizer of the event, ended up talking about this wave of cyberbullying. Then, the cameraman dedicated about fifteen minutes to explain to his subscribers that this cyberbullying was sexist. An explanation of the apparently difficult text to understand for some Internet users, which is why they did not hesitate to reproduce the same pattern with other content creators.
