Manchester synagogue attack: attacker had ‘lent allegiance’ to Daesh

The perpetrator of the attack on a synagogue in Manchester, killed by police, is a 35-year-old British man of Syrian origin.

The perpetrator of the attack on a synagogue in Manchester last week called the police during the attack claiming to “pay allegiance to the Islamic State group”, a spokesman for British counter-terrorism police said on Wednesday (October 8).

“At the beginning of the attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, the assailant called the police, claiming allegiance to the Islamic State group,” this spokesperson said, adding that the investigation continues “into the motivations” behind this attack which took place on October 2, the day of the Yom Kippour plate, and caused the death of two fantastic Jews.

The perpetrator of the attack, a 35-year-old British man of Syrian origin, was killed by police.
