Banned on Twitch, sealed: the hectic weekend of “Lokal 2.0”, almost two months after the death of Jean Pormanove

Relaunched a month and a half after the death of Jean Pormanove, Lokal has had a difficult weekend, while his new team is the subject of a third investigation by the Nice prosecutor’s office.

The new “Lokal” performs again. Although on Friday, October 10, we learned of the opening of a new investigation by the Nice prosecutor’s office for “deliberate violence at meetings”, things accelerated last weekend for Gwen C., its main protagonist.

“Naruto’s” brother, who ran the Kick channel where streamer Jean Pormanove died live after several days of violence and harassment, saw how the police searched the premises where his new team plays. A few hours later, Twitch issued a 24-hour ban on the channel due to non-compliance with community guidelines.

“Fake” violence but real threats

According to information collected by Tech&Co, the streaming platform owned by Amazon is currently “studying” the situation, without saying more at the moment about what will happen next. A surprising position given that its regulations stipulate that a streamer’s behavior outside of Twitch can also lead to a prolonged or even permanent ban.

The 24-hour ban would correspond to Twitch’s first level of sanction, after the warning. The streamer will then be able to return, but his sanction will be “attached” to his account so that it can be taken into account in case of repeat offense.

Computer equipment was also seized and the premises were sealed, preventing them from doing anything again.

In Mehdi’s chat, a hundred users ask to “close” Mediapart, the source of the information, but also to “stop this bitch Marie Turcan”, the journalist who signed the investigation for the investigative media.

On her Instagram account, Gwen C., who operates under the pseudonym “OGK Decoy”, reacted quickly to this new matter, at the same time insulting the numerous media outlets that picked up Mediapart’s information. For part of the weekend, the young man did not hesitate to share the disturbing “support” of his community, including the story of a user showing a streamer armed with a gun, a captured image of Kick with the words “Fuck the media, if you need cleaning, call this guy.”

At the origin of these new twists and turns, a live sequence broadcast on Twitch where we see Gwen C. cuts the camera to hit one of her friends also present. Although no violence appears to have been committed, this led to several complaints to the authorities.

He states that the live broadcasts on his channel are stopped “for an indefinite period.”

At the same time, the Kick platform, widely criticized for allowing violence against Jean Pormanove to occur, permanently banned the late streamer’s channel, just under two months after the tragedy.
