The message leaves no room for doubt. “THE RETURN OF THE CHARITY EVENT”, launches Aminematue, this Tuesday, October 28 on X, ex-Twitter. Then it’s official. A second edition of Stream for Humanity, the streamers’ charity marathon, will take place in November.
From November 14 to 16, several web stars will come together for 48 hours live on Twitch to raise funds for “the fight against world hunger.” Like last year, the online event will be followed by a charity football match at the Jean Bouin stadium in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on the afternoon of November 16.
Five countries affected
As we can see in the short trailer of about thirty seconds, the prize fund raised will go to support people affected by hunger in France, Nigeria, Palestine, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The charity marathon is carried out in collaboration with the associations Doctors Without Borders and Secours populaire français.
At the moment the participants of this new edition have not been announced. However, close to 20,000 spectators are expected again.
The first edition of the event, last January, raised nearly 3.5 million euros to benefit Doctors Without Borders to “help families who are victims of armed conflicts” in Palestine, Congo, Sudan and Lebanon.
In total, 26 streamers participated in the event. Among them, Squeezie, the second most followed YouTuber in France, Michou, Maghla and Inoxtag. Throughout the weekend, videographers set themselves a series of challenges to motivate their subscribers to make donations. The event ended with a soccer match between content creators. It was the Inoxtag team who won the match, after the penalty shootout.
In recent years, charity marathons organized by streamers have multiplied on Twitch. As of 2021, ZEvent, the live charity marathon on Twitch created by ZeratoR and Alexandre Dachary, holds the record for the charity event that has raised the most money on the Amazon platform. Last September, the fifty cameramen mobilized in Montpellier raised more than 16 million euros.
