The offer seemed good, it finally turned into a nightmare. Dozens of families have been denouncing the actions of Valbuenux, a supposed quality travel agency, recommended by many influencers, since the beginning of September.
Trips reserved and paid for through Snapchat to destinations like Egypt or Dubai, but which in the end hid many vices: late departures, hotel changes, but above all plane tickets and rooms to be paid twice.
In total, at least 27 complaints were registered by the Nanterre police station, which estimates “between 30 and 50 their total number”, according to statements collected by the parisian. For his part, Mathieu M., at the origin of the Valbuenux agency, defended himself on his favorite network, Snapchat, and blamed the hotels.
“The hotel has clearly turned it upside down”
For the tour operator 2.0, the reason for all these setbacks lies in the oversold practiced by certain hotels: “We had agreed with the hotel, with the same ambitions as the previous summer, but we found ourselves at the beginning of July with a very big problem that we could never have anticipated”. for us Overnight, I don’t know what happened, their booking services validated all our places for us and then they canceled all our places, for no reason,” explains Mathieu M. in a Snapchat story, seen by the parisian.
Mathieu M. also apologized to people “who found themselves alone, abandoned to their fate, in hotels where rooms were not paid for or did not have a return plane ticket.” The businessman had also been accused of culpable homicide, from which he defended himself by apologizing again, since a vacationer had suffered a stroke during his stay.
The damage is now estimated at 281,000 euros, divided into 269 injured. The investigation opened by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office against Mathieu M. refers for the moment only to these fraud charges. The Franco-Egyptian spent a brief time in prison in Egypt, but is now free.
