In December, the Netflix offer with ads attracted 1.4 million French households

Netflix’s cheaper offering that incorporates ads seems to have found its audience. 1.4 million households chose this option in December.

The objective was to seduce a new audience, the bet is successful for Netflix. With the launch of its new offer that incorporates advertising, the video-on-demand platform wanted to open up to a new audience by offering a reduced price. A study by NPA Conseil and Harris Interactive shows that 1.4 million subscriptions were purchased in France in December.

13 million users

Of these new households, almost two out of three were not customers of the service. Thus, the implementation of the offer with advertising at 5.99 euros per month has allowed it to attract approximately 860,000 new customers. But with its new option, Netflix has allowed more than 500,000 households to lower their bill to access the catalog of movies and series.

Thanks to this increase in subscribers in December, the streaming pioneer can boast of being present in one in three homes. In total, Netflix has 13 million regular users in France. According to this study, this is the best performance of the platform in three years.

Available from November 3, the Essential offer with Netflix advertising lowers the cost of subscriptions by three euros compared to the classic offer. Apart from announcements before and during shows, this subscription does not allow access to the entire catalog. But the company ensures that the user experience will not be affected.
