To make its next headphones and earphones, Apple is about to switch suppliers. The company would separate from Goertek in favor of Hon Teng (a subsidiary of Foxconn) to carry out the assembly of its AirPods. At least that’s what analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says.
Inflated prices in France
According to his information, discovered by Mac4ever, Apple would consider selling its next generation of AirPods headphones at $99, the lowest price ever shown for these devices. On its site, the brand is currently offering the second and third generation AirPods as well as the AirPods Pro 2, respectively at $129, $169, and $249.
Don’t expect to find Apple’s future headphones for less than 100 euros in France. As is often the case, converting company prices from dollars to euros is not mathematically a simple conversion. That is why French customers must now pay 159, 209 and 299 euros to purchase the headphones already on sale. Apple’s future wireless headphones with wireless charging, touch controls, spatial sound, but without active noise reduction, could therefore be offered at around 120 euros, the average price of competing headphones with almost equivalent specifications (Oppo Free 2, Nothing ear Stick, Sennheiser CX True Wireless, Sony WF-C500…)
Ming-Chi Kuo clarifies that shipments of the new generation of “low-price” AirPods are expected in the second half of 2024 or the first part of 2025. The analyst also tells us that a second version of the AirPods Max earphones should be part . of these shipments.
On the other hand, no information about the characteristics of this high-end product has been revealed. Just a clarification, the assembly of the AirPods Max 2 will be entrusted to Luxshare-ICT and Hon Teng.
