The credits will come trotting back in the heads of the players, the console barely turned on. Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, the video game Golden Eye 007 signs a strong comeback 25 years later.
This first-person shooter, with a sneaky twist, takes on a second life on Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Rare’s game is getting a remaster to recruit new secret agents, almost 15 years after the first rumours.
A modern version, original graphics.
However, to accommodate the new consoles, James Bond will be enriched with some new gadgets (a hit list to unlock in particular) and more modern features. The controls are adapted to the new controls (using the two analog sticks), a 16:9 aspect ratio for a game launched in 4:3 at the time, and a resolution of up to 4K on Xbox Series X⎜S. But, in view of the first images, the graphics are, as for them, very original.
Launched on a mission to the four corners of the world, 007 must stop the GoldenEye satellite from wreaking havoc. The game features a campaign mode, different difficulty levels, and even rich codes. Split-screen multiplayer (up to 4 players) is back too.
Golden Eye 007 It will be available on Xbox Game Pass, as well as the offer of classic Nintendo 64 games from the Nintendo Switch Online subscription + Additional Pack (with the arrival of online multiplayer).
No release date has been published. But with the film franchise turning 60 this year, availability could come as early as October 5, James Bond Day.
