Streaming platform Twitch has announced an update to its monetization system to help streamers receive donations faster.
Announced by the platform on July 12 in a press release, this development only affected a few countries. As of September 15, more than a hundred countries, including France, will be affected, the platform announced on Twitter on September 12.
On Twitch, you need to have collected a certain amount in order to “unlock” the money in question. Until now, this threshold was $100. Because some users don’t necessarily accumulate this amount and find themselves locked out, Twitch has announced that it will lower the threshold to $50.
Help smaller creators
In this way, Twitch users will now be able to more quickly access the money generated by paid subscriptions, donations and paid advertising.
A device that would affect some 70,000 streamers, according to platform estimates. Twitch’s “star” streamers, who make a living from donations, are just the tip of the iceberg. Indeed, the vast majority of users only accumulate very few viewers.
