More than 20% of domains that contain malware also contain pornographic content. This is clear from the figures revealed by the survey carried out by NordVPN, one of the leaders in cybersecurity.
Various types of malware can be introduced to devices, such as classic viruses, but also ransomware, which demands a ransom from the user in exchange for their personal data, or scarware, which makes the user believe that their computer has been infected.
60,000 targeted porn sites
NordVPN analyzed the information collected by its “Threat Protection” program to understand which sites were most likely to be affected by attacks. After porn sites and their 60,000 domains considered dangerous, cloud storage (40,100 domains) and entertainment (30,995 domains) sites contain the most malware.
And in addition to malware, intrusive ads are also rife on some sites. Over 552 million domains related to streaming media feature intrusive ads. For porn sites, more than 389 million domains were marked with unwanted ads.
To avoid being a victim of these malicious programs or unwanted ads, it is advisable to use, on the one hand, an ad blocker, but also an effective antivirus.
