Despite its impressive success with the youngest, TikTok struggles to financially satisfy the most influential account holders. To gain their loyalty and encourage them to publish more and more, the Chinese giant is willing to bring out a new weapon: allow its stars to charge for accessing certain videos, at the price they choose.
longer videos
This development, reported by the American site The Information, comes a few months after the launch of a paid subscription feature, inspired by the Twitch platform. With its new option, TikTok would allow Internet users to access exclusive content, no longer paying a sum each month, but à la carte, for a particular video.
At the moment, no details have been leaked about how users could be billed. The Information also mentions tests that are already underway, both in Brazil and in France.
Still according to the same source, TikTok is trying other ways to attract its influencers and encourage them to produce quality content. The latter could thus be financially rewarded if they produce longer content: the platform allows you to post videos of up to ten minutes.
This strategy comes in a difficult context for TikTok, highlighted in the United States by the risks of Chinese interference in the West, as well as the treatment of users’ personal data. The social network is also in the crosshairs of French senators, who will soon open a commission of inquiry in this regard.
