Gmail, Google Drive: a blackout affects several Google services

The services of the American giant are down for many French users, this February 27 at noon.

On Twitter, testimonials multiply this February 27: many Internet users mention the impossibility of connecting to various Google services, starting with its Gmail messaging service. Technical difficulties are also reported on the Downdectortor site, which lists flaws reported by users.

According to Downdetector data, user reports spiked around 2:10 p.m., mainly due to an inability to log into the Gmail website. Other reports mention access to the Google search engine, as well as Google Drive, the storage service of the American company.

For Google, the cuts do not seem to be limited to France, but affect other countries, starting with the United States. Google’s last global outage dates back to 2020. Then many services became inaccessible, including its YouTube video streaming platform. A service that seems preserved -and accessible- this February 27.

Contacted by Tech & Co about this flaw, Google France has not yet responded.
