TikTok: White House orders US federal agencies to ban app from their devices

The White House is giving all federal agencies across the country 30 days to make sure their devices no longer have the TikTok video app.

Towards the end of TikTok in the United States? The White House on Monday ordered federal agencies across the country to stop using TikTok. They will have to ensure that their devices are no longer equipped with the video application within 30 days, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) ordered Monday.

A few hours earlier, the Canadian government announced it would ban the TikTok app from the mobile devices it provides to its staff starting Tuesday, citing “an unacceptable level of risk” to privacy and security.

Owned by Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok has been targeted by US lawmakers who consider the app a threat to national security and banned its use on officials’ devices through a law passed in late December.
