It is possible to download it, but not to use it. Bluesky has arrived at the Apple app store. This alternative to Twitter has the particularity of being financially supported by Jack Dorsey, one of the two co-founders of the social network, disappointed by Elon Musk’s early decisions at the head of the application.
At the moment, Bluesky is on trial. If someone can download and open it, the app asks for a code to create an account. The social network works by invitation only. At least during the early phases of the trial.
A decentralized social network
The application was seen in the App Store, by the American medium TechCrunch. The opportunity to realize that the new social network takes characteristics by characteristics of the design of Twitter. The download page offers three images of the application.
In shape, Bluesky (blue sky, in French) could almost be confused with the blue bird. The publication thread takes up the main features of Twitter, with a counter for comments, shares and “likes” below each entry. Profile pages also follow the Twitter model.
The Bluesky project was initially launched as a division of Twitter, before becoming independent in February 2022, recalls the Siècle Digital site. The objective of this initiative is to provide Internet users with a decentralized open source social network, that is, without the influence of any company.
As TechCrunch points out, the arrival on a public app store could mean that the launch is imminent. In general, beta versions of new apps are available through a more discreet channel. But no release date has been formalized.
