For its new televisions, Sony invents the smart camera that adapts to the viewer

Sony has presented four new panels of the Bravia XR range that incorporate an intelligent camera capable of optimizing sound and image according to the position of the viewer.

Japanese tech giant Sony continues to evolve its line of Bravia XR TVs. The Japanese manufacturer presented, on March 1, 2023, four new models of Oled, Qd-Led, Mini-Led and Led panels whose sizes vary between 50 inches and 98 inches: Bravia XR A80L 4K Oled, Bravia XR A95L 4K QD-Oled, Bravia XR 4K X95L Mini-Led and Bravia XR X90L 4K HDR Full Array Led.

Designed with the idea of offering users the most immersive experience possible when watching a movie or playing a game of video games, these four televisions have the common characteristic of incorporating different technologies aimed at improving the sound and visual perception of the viewer depending on the place and layout of the room.

When the sound and image fit the audience

Among these features, the Bravia Cam. Located above the frame of the television, this intelligent camera locates the user’s position and optimizes the image and sound according to the geometry of the piece in which it is located and the unevenness that separates it from the slab. To do this, the Bravia Cam calculates the distance between the television and the viewer and adapts the contrast, brightness, white balance and sound accordingly.

In addition, like last year’s versions, the Bravia XR 2023 televisions have an improved version of the Cognitive Processor XRTM, an innovative processor with so-called “cognitive” artificial intelligence that allows image processing and sound in a very natural way. This latest version introduces XR Clear Image, a feature that Sony says reproduces ambient noise more faithfully and reduces motion blur for even sharper images.

real entertainment platforms

Furthermore, Bravia XR 2023 aims to offer a rich gaming experience. This results in the appearance on the remote of a button dedicated to Crunchyroll, Sony’s paid subscription video-on-demand service specializing in Japanese animation. The Bravia XR thus give access to more than 18,000 hours of anime that include more than 44,000 episodes and movies translated into many languages.

The latest: the four XRs of 2023 are all “recommended for PlayStation 5”. Therefore, they include exclusive features intended for gaming on the Sony console, such as Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, which are supposed to optimize image quality for gaming and streaming.
