Like many social networks overwhelmed by the success of TikTok, Spotify intends to continue its growth by following in the footsteps of the Chinese social network. This new feature consists of a complete redesign of the home screen of the application. This should strengthen the relationship between the artist and the fans and make it easier for users to find new things to listen and watch.
Video at the center of the user experience
The video will thus occupy a prominent place within the application, as in TikTok. Creators will be able to post short clips of less than 30 seconds to illustrate their music. These videos will appear in playlists. In addition, it will be possible to access a vertical scrolling stream where video clips can be scrolled. Artists will also be able to post excerpts to promote, as well as messages for their fans.
Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s product manager, said the company doesn’t optimize the time you spend with this new stream unlike TikTok. “Our objective is not to steal time. It is to help users save time,” he emphasized.
