If you’ve ever left the movie theater and pulled into a crowded parking lot without knowing where you parked your vehicle, know that there’s a simple and free solution to finding your parking space.
A feature available in Apple Maps (iOS) and Google Maps (Android) allows you to save your car’s parking location and save you a lot of hassle. Here is the procedure to follow.
Save car location on Google Maps
- Open Google Map and tap on the blue dot that shows your location
- Go to the “Save” tab to save the location
- List your location
How to find your car on Google Maps
- Click “Saved” at the bottom of the screen to access the saved location
- Choose the “Recently Saved” tab to access the location of the car
- Select “Route” to have Google Maps establish a route
- Press “Start” to begin your journey
Save the position of your car in Maps
Before you can use Apple Maps to find your parking spot, you must first change a few settings.
- Go to Settings and select “Privacy and security”
- Select “Location Services” and check that the tab is enabled
- Still in the “Location Services” menu, select “System Services” at the bottom of the page
- Go to “Significant Places” and make sure the feature is turned on
- Go back to “Settings” and select the “Maps” app
- Turn on the “Show Parking” switch
How to find your vehicle on Maps
Once these settings are activated, it will automatically find the location of your car if you have connected it to your smartphone via Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay. Your device then sends you a notification that Maps has listed where you parked.
In case your car is not Compatible with Apple CarPlay, or no Bluetooth, manually set a pin in Maps.
- Pick a location and touch and hold the screen to set it as a waypoint. A red dot appears
- Click the “…More” tab and choose “Add to Maps”
- To find this marker, pull down the “Search on maps” menu and access “Recent”. The created mark is displayed first.
