Instagram: three tips to avoid being invaded by unwanted notifications

Tired of seeing fake accounts populating your Instagram notifications? There are tricks to get rid of it.

They reappear from time to time on Instagram: bots. Fake victories in contests, incessant likes in stories, identifications in photos… There are multiple techniques but they achieve the same result: extreme fatigue from having to report or block these accounts all day.

But to avoid being invaded by these accounts with 0 subscribers, there are several possible settings to define on the social network. To do this, access the “hamburger” menu (which has the shape of three horizontal lines) located in the upper right part, from your profile, then “Settings”.

To avoid identification in publications

In order not to have more accounts that identify you in their photos, in particular for fake Shein ads, you must go in the “Privacy” section then “Publications”. You will thus find the different configurations related to this type of mentions.

Therefore, it is recommended to choose “People you follow” in the “Who can identify you” section. You can also manually approve tags on photos and videos in the settings below. This will let people who want to identify you know that you don’t accept IDs from everyone.

Not to be mentioned again

If you are invaded by the always misleading ads that indicate that you have been selected to win the latest iPhone, there are two possible settings: still in the “Privacy” section, you can edit who can mention you (everyone, the people you follow, or no one) on the “Mention” page.

The “Comments” part can also be useful if some post their spam under your posts. You can choose to allow comments from everyone, the people you follow, your followers, or both combined.

To avoid stories flooded with bots

Many porn-prone accounts now invite themselves to user story views, sometimes reaching a quarter of a video’s total views. The only solution to this problem is creating a private story. Quite restrictive if you have a lot of subscribers and subscriptions, however, it allows you to select one by one the people who can see your story.

To do this, go to the “History” section, still from the “Privacy” tab, then “Close friends” and select your privileged contacts. When posting a story, you should also remember to click the “Close Friends” button with the green star and not “Your Story.”

Another solution, again very laborious: block and report these fraudulent accounts one by one. An often tried but rarely effective technique as these bots multiply and return at lightning speeds.
