While France Télévisions’ video-on-demand service closes the curtain on Monday March 27, its (former) competitor Molotov has made a name for itself by announcing a free year of subscription for old Salto subscribers.
A way of trying to attract new customers, but also a slight to the public service platform, which wanted to be “Netflix à la française”, but went bankrupt before its third anniversary.

The offer, valid from March 27 to April 2, is reserved for Internet users who were Salto customers in February or March and who were not Molotov subscribers last year. Proof will be required, and the channels of the M6 group will only be available for a period of two months from the date of subscription. After 12 months, subscribers will switch to the classic Molotov offer at €5.99 per month.
Launched in 2016, Molotov was founded by journalist Pierre Lescure and Allociné co-founder Jean-David Blanc, along with former TF1 player Jean-Marc Denoual. The service allows viewing on demand, live and on repeat, of television programs from more than 80 channels, including those of DTT.
