A Boulanger brand phone model is subject to recall. The EssentielB Clap 20+ model exceeds the authorized wave emission limits. This withdrawal was launched after a control by the National Frequency Agency (AFNR).
The organization is responsible for monitoring the public’s exposure to electromagnetic waves. During his tests, he evaluates the specific absorption rate (SAR), which is the amount of energy carried by magnetic waves and absorbed by the human body.
Can’t update remotely
In France, the acceptable thresholds are set at 4 W/kg for the extremities and 2 W/kg for the trunk of the body. But the Boulanger device was checked at 4.14 W/kg and 2.73 W/kg.
After these measures, the ANFR gave formal notice to the brand so that it take the corresponding measures so that its phones are compatible. A similar action was taken against the OnePlus 7 Pro in October 2022. The only problem here is that users cannot update the software to reduce the SAR directly.
Therefore, a recall campaign was launched. Until June 30, 2023, owners of an EssentielB Clap 20+ model can contact the company via email. Boulanger will receive all these devices in France, proceed to install the patch and return them to their owner.
