A coincidence in the calendar, the teams at the Bourg-en-Bresse hospital in Ain had received training in early April to deal with cyberattacks. The hospital center was the victim of a cyberattack on the night of April 10 to 11, but it did not impact most of the establishment’s activity, reports Progress.
The entire computer network of various hospitals was affected: the hospitals of Hauteville, Pont-de-Vaux, Meximieux, but also the nursing homes of Montrevel-en-Bresse, Coligny and Cerdon.
The attack was detected during the IT department’s on-call, when abnormal activities were observed on the network. The decision was made to isolate the system. External messaging and internal email exchanges are still affected.
Hospital activity continues without too many problems. However, diagnoses by medical imaging are slowing down: “For patients who have undergone an examination whose diagnosis is made by teleimaging, that is, by a company that interprets the image remotely, it will take a little longer,” he specifies. Frédérique Labro-Gouby, director of the hospital, with the Progress.
As for the emergency service, the hospital follows the system that provides for attending only vital emergencies and redirecting patients who do not require immediate consultation by an emergency doctor.
The hospital center alerted the National Information Systems Security Agency (ANSSI) and no ransom was demanded after the cyberattack.
