ChatGPT-5, not for now, explains OpenAI boss

Invited to speak at MIT, Sam Altman said he was focused on the fourth version of his chatbot. The OpenAI chief also reacted to the open letter that he called for a pause in the rise of artificial intelligence.

As soon as it arrived, could ChatGPT-4 already give way to GPT-5? For Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI, this is not in the company’s plans, at least in the short term. Invited to talk with students from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sam Altman assured that he was 100% focused on the latest version of conversational artificial intelligence, launched in mid-March.

Take the time to ensure

The letter mentioned in his statements is the one signed by more than 1,100 people demanding an immediate break from projects around artificial intelligence. A letter of which Sam Altman approves of certain elements, in particular on the need to secure the sector.

Sam Altman, however, continues to have doubts about other points in the letter, always on the subject of the moratorium. In particular, he laments the omission of most of the technical nuances that indicate exactly when in the process a pause would be necessary.

At the moment, OpenAI is still focused on GPT-4 and on improving this version of the chatbot. Although powerful and considered revolutionary by many, ChatGPT still has a large number of weaknesses, especially related to security and data protection.

These problems led to the ban on the chatbot in Italy, as well as the opening of several investigations in France and other countries. To try to reduce these bugs as quickly as possible, ChatGPT has set up a Bug Bounty system, where specialized hackers can point the finger at OpenAI for various software problems, in exchange for money.
