Starship: the new SpaceX rocket, the largest in the world, exploded after taking off

The SpaceX rocket exploded moments after liftoff from Texas on Thursday.

The mission ended prematurely for Starship. The world’s largest rocket exploded Thursday shortly after takeoff from Texas. This was the first test flight of this vehicle developed by SpaceX for trips to the Moon and Mars.

Starship, a 120 meter tall black and silver giant, had soared into the sky in a gigantic ball of fire.

A next test in “a few months”

The Starship explosion does not represent a failure for the company of billionaire Elon Musk. Launching the rocket from its launch pad is already a great achievement for SpaceX.

“Congratulations to the SpaceX team on this exciting Starship test launch!” Musk reacted on Twitter, the social network he owns. “We learned a lot of things for the next test in a few months.”

It is still too early to know the precise causes of the SpaceX rocket explosion, but the company indicated that “Starship experienced a rapid and unplanned disassembly prior to the separation of the stages.”

“Our teams will continue to study the data and work towards our next test flight,” he explained. SpaceX on his Twitter account. Today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability for SpaceX to enable humanity to go multi-planetary.”
