After the Americans, the French can now use Ikea Kreativ. This tool, included in the application of the Swedish furniture giant, allows you to make a clean slate of your living room by erasing the furniture virtually.
Specifically, the client takes a series of photographs of each piece. The system will then assess the space from different key locations and optimize for scale.
Thus, we get a wide-angle 3D version of space, with accurate dimensions and perspectives. All furniture is detected and can be moved, removed and repositioned as desired.
Ikea Kreativ was developed by Geomagical Labs, acquired by the Swedish group in 2020. The technology is based on artificial intelligence neural networks that have been trained to recognize objects and the geometry of interior spaces.
To redecorate, on the other hand, you can only preview the furniture in the Ikea catalog. If we find that a piece of furniture fits well in the 3D version of our apartment, it is possible to add it directly to our basket. You can also save your design ideas, create mood boards like on Pinterest (a social network used by one in two buyers), share them with your family.
Increase online sales
For Ikea, this new feature is primarily intended to take the brakes off online shopping. The “on-line” now represents 35% of the group’s turnover in France (compared to 10% in 2019) and consumers are increasingly making their purchases on the Web.
Less than a month ago, Ikea also opened its design workshop. It is a 9m2 virtual showroom that gives access to the entire catalog -3D version- of the brand. Without cash, Ikea welcomes customers and supports them in the development of their projects.
As with Ikea Kreativ, the goal is to offer inspiration to customers in a more realistic way than on a simple screen, and then have them pay with a click.
