Elon Musk, who aims to make Twitter an “all-purpose” app, announced Tuesday that it would soon be possible to make audio and video calls from the platform.
“Audio and video chats from your account will soon be added to any user on this platform, allowing you to talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” he said in a tweet.

The billionaire, who bought the platform for $44 billion in late October, also plans to roll out the ability to encrypt private messages on Wednesday.
Since his arrival at the head of Twitter, Elon Musk has multiplied the changes and news, sometimes in a chaotic way. He had mentioned in November his intention to create an “app for everything” that would allow, among other things, encrypted messages, longer tweets and means of payment.
