Make your private chats even more private – that’s the goal of WhatsApp with its new “Chat Lock” feature. This option will allow users to further protect their conversations, in particular through a personal code or biometric data stored on the device (fingerprint or facial recognition).
Once selected as “blocked”, the chat will appear in a separate tab from other conversations and notifications related to that chat will be hidden. Media will no longer be automatically saved to the phone or to the photo gallery.
Function refined soon
To lock one of your conversations, simply tap on the name of a person or group and select the lock option.
This new feature is already rolling out to devices. However, the company specifies that this option will be refined in the coming months and will allow, among other things, the use of a personalized password for each conversation and different from the one on the phone.
There were already other methods to block the messaging service, in particular by setting the conditions for accessing the application from the settings of your smartphone. A more radical technique but one that will be just as suitable for people who want to keep their conversations private.
