Tell about your day orally or even start the song – it’s now possible in a private message on Twitter thanks to the voice memo feature introduced on May 19.
The blue bird social network here follows in the footsteps of WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram, which already offer this option. Twitter had already tried sending voice tweets: but now it’s in the private messages section where everything happens.
Record a voice memo
Could not been more easy. On smartphones, you have to open a conversation with the person you want to contact, just as if you were about to send them a text, photo or video.
If you open your voicemail for the first time since the app update, a warning alerts you to the appearance of voice memos on Twitter.
Tap the little purple sound frequency symbol at the bottom right. Then begins an inverted countdown, starting at 140 seconds – a reference to the famous 140 character limit for a tweet.
You must also first authorize Twitter to record audio through your smartphone.
end a recording
You have two options to end the recording when it’s done and before the countdown ends.
– If you press and hold your finger on the “record” symbol, you can simply release your finger to share it directly with your interlocutor.
– If you have clicked once on the recording logo, click on the small red square surrounded by a circle at the bottom right, to stop the voice memo.
Your recording and its duration (in seconds) appear, ready to send.
send voice message
All that remains is to send it to your recipient by clicking the send arrow on the right.
As of this writing, Voice Memos seems to only work on smartphones and not in a web browser.
